Insurance & Superbills
I am a private-pay provider and do not bill insurance directly. I provide monthly superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Reimbursement rates vary depending on your specific plan. I recommend calling the member services number on your insurance card to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before we begin. Many clients choose private-pay therapy because it offers greater privacy, flexibility in treatment length, and care that isn't limited by what insurance will or won't approve.
How to Check Your Out-of-Network Benefits in 5 Minutes
Many PPO plans reimburse between 50% to 80% for out-of-network mental health services. To find out exactly what your specific plan covers, call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask the representative these exact questions:
- “Do I have out-of-network behavioral health benefits for outpatient, telehealth office visits?”
- “What is my out-of-network deductible, and has any of it been met yet this year?”
- “Once my deductible is met, what percentage of the ‘allowed amount’ does my plan reimburse for CPT code 90837 (60-minute individual therapy)?”
- “How do I submit a monthly superbill for reimbursement?”
I make this process seamless for you by auto-generating a formatted monthly Superbill PDF directly inside your secure client portal, which you can upload to your insurance company.
What to Expect When Starting Therapy
Free Consultation
We start with a complimentary 15-minute phone call to get to know each other, answer your questions, and make sure we're a good fit. No pressure, no commitment — just a conversation.
First Session
Our first full session is focused on you. We'll talk about your goals, your history, what's feeling most urgent, and what you're hoping therapy will make possible. It's a chance for me to understand your world, and for you to get a feel for how we work together.
Ongoing Sessions
Sessions are typically held weekly, especially at the start of our work together. Over time we may adjust frequency based on your needs, your goals, and your life. I also offer biweekly sessions for clients who need flexibility.
Cancellation Policy
Life happens and therapy should relieve stress, not add to it. I send text reminders before each session and will reach out if you're five minutes late, because I know how fast things move when you're a mom with a full life.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations with more than 24 hours notice can be rescheduled within the week. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice or no-shows cannot be guaranteed a rescheduling opportunity and may result in a $100 cancellation fee.
Common Questions
Do you accept insurance?
I am a private-pay provider and do not bill insurance directly. I provide monthly superbills you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I recommend calling the member services number on your insurance card before we begin to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
Why don't you take insurance?
Private pay allows me to provide care that is fully tailored to you, and not limited by what your insurance plan will or won't approve. It also protects your privacy, since insurance-based therapy requires a mental health diagnosis that becomes part of your permanent medical record. Many clients find that the flexibility and depth of private-pay therapy is worth the investment.
What is a superbill?
A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes all the information your insurance company needs to process a potential reimbursement, including session dates, service codes, and my license information. I provide these monthly for clients who want to submit to their insurance for potential out-of-network benefit reimbursement.
How do I know if therapy is worth the cost?
That's a real and fair question. Therapy is an investment, in your mental health, your marriage, your parenting, and your ability to actually enjoy the life you've worked so hard to build. Many of my clients find that the cost of not getting support, in burnout, relationship strain, and years of carrying this alone, has been far greater than the cost of therapy. I also offer biweekly sessions for clients who need more flexibility with the financial commitment.
How long will I need to be in therapy?
It depends on your goals and what you're working on. Some clients come for focused short-term support through a specific season, a few months of targeted work. Others engage in longer-term therapy that goes deeper. We'll talk about what feels right for you from the very first session, and I'll always follow your lead.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes, I am a telehealth-only practice. All sessions are held securely online, which means you can access support from wherever your life actually happens. No commute, no waiting room, no childcare logistics. I offer online therapy for moms throughout Minneapolis, the Twin Cities, and all of Minnesota.
What if I'm not sure you're the right fit?
That's exactly what the free 15-minute consultation is for. It's a low-pressure conversation where you can ask questions, share a little about what you're navigating, and get a feel for whether working together feels right. There's no commitment required.
What if I've never been to therapy before?
You're in the right place. A lot of the moms I work with are coming to therapy for the first time, or returning after a long gap. The first session is simply a conversation. There's no wrong way to start, and you don't need to have it figured out before you reach out.
Good Faith Estimate
Inspired Bravery Counseling, LLC is required by law to provide you with a Good Faith Estimate of the expected charges for my services before we begin therapy. This estimate is based on the information you provide me about your needs and goals. It is important to note that the cost of therapy may vary depending on the length of treatment and your mental health needs.
